Who we are

Momovel is a travel app run from Singapore. We are responsible for the personal data described here, and we follow Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act. For any question or request about your data, write to [email protected].

Your records

Your trips in the Trip planner, with their journal photos, expenses, passes and tickets, travel cards, translated photos, and the trip plans, documents, scans and pictures in your Library are saved on this device and not kept in your account. Something the app makes for you — a trip plan, a document, a picture — waits in your account only until this device has collected it, then it is removed there. Clearing this app's data, or uninstalling it, removes them.

Your account

Your account keeps what its features need to work: your sign-in details, the bookings you add, the places you save, the places and alerts you ask the app to keep checking, your conversations with the companion (so it can carry on where you left off), and the budget and split settings of Trip money. When notifications are on, a coarse position (about a kilometre) is kept so that safety notices and alerts fit where you are. When the companion is on, your position is kept so its suggestions are near you; switch it off and nothing more is sent.

What leaves the app

To answer you, the app sends what you asked — the question, the photo, the place — to the services that provide its maps, forecasts, translations, and the companion's replies. Your private details stay private, even when AI helps. Our privacy shield automatically takes card numbers, passport and ID numbers, bank details, passwords and security codes out of what you type before any AI model sees it, and your photos are sent without the hidden details of where and when they were taken. A message that trips the safety filter is kept for review.

Family

A family phone's position is sealed on that phone with your family's key before it is sent; the account stores it but cannot read it. The phone always shows a notification while it shares. Sharing can be paused or stopped on the phone itself; if the family has set a family password or code, it is asked for first, and the family is told whenever sharing stops.

Not sold

Nothing about you is sold or used for advertising.

Deleting

Settings → Your data shows everything kept on this device and lets you clear it. Settings → Delete your account (in a browser or the iPhone app) removes your account and everything kept under it on the server.

Payments

When you pay for a plan, your card details go straight to our payment provider, Stripe, and never reach us. We keep only what we need to run your plan: the plan you chose, its renewal date, the payment status and a reference to your Stripe customer record. Stripe handles payment data under its own privacy policy.

Email

We send email to the address on your account: sign-in and security messages, receipts, and important notices about your account. We do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it.

Where your data is kept

Our servers are in Singapore. Some of the services named above work in other countries. When data goes to them, it is only what is needed for the task, under their own data protection terms.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept until you delete your account. Payment and invoice records are kept as long as tax law requires (in Singapore, usually five years). Contact form messages are kept for 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to [email protected]. We will answer within 30 days. You can delete your account yourself at any time; see how to delete your account. If you live in a country with its own data protection law, you also have the rights that law gives you, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Accounts are for adults. If a parent or guardian adds a child's phone to Family, the parent or guardian is responsible for that choice.

Changes

If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change applies.

AI models from other companies

The companion's replies, photo translation, the interpreter's hearing and translation, written trip plans and their documents, reading a booking you add as a photo, PDF or email, reading a receipt you photograph, the scam check, address cards in the local language, and finding places in a link you paste are produced by AI models run by other companies, chosen by the operator of this app. What you type, say or photograph for those features is sent to that company to produce the answer, with card numbers, passport and ID numbers, bank details, passwords and security codes taken out first by the privacy shield, and is not used by us to train anything. The app asks for your agreement the first time you use one of these features, and you can withdraw it under Settings → Your data; the features then stay off.
